The children's specialist occupational therapist's input to clinic:

The children's O.T. attends the clinics held at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow and is able to assess patients and offer advice in the following areas:-

• Developmental skills.
• Self care and functional skills such as:
  • feeding
  • dressing
  • toileting
  • need for adaptive equipment
• Fine motor skills particularly in relation to functional tasks such as:
  • handwriting
  • using a knife or fork
  • use of scissors etc.
• Upper limb assessments.
• Visual perception skills in relation to handwriting and other functional tasks.
• Liaising with nurseries and schools at important transitional periods for the child.
• Assessing and providing resources to schools, such as:
  • supportive aids
  • equipment in practical subjects, such as Home Economics
• Carrying out home/nursery/school visits within Greater Glasgow and Clyde when appropriate.
