Adult Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS)

The Adult Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is able to offer specialist skills and knowledge whilst supporting patients and families affected by brachial plexus injury.


Main Duties of the CNS

Inpatient and Outpatient Support

You will see the Clinical Nurse Specialist as an inpatient if you are having an operation. The CNS will coordinate the nursing care that you receive before and after the surgery.

The CNS will also see you as an outpatient at the Adult Brachial Plexus Injury clinic with other members of the team.

Counselling

You can see the Clinical Nurse Specialist individually for some of the sessions detailed on our Counselling page. Help and advice is available via telephone, text or e-mail.

The Clinical Nurse Specialist can offer advice, support and information on different topics including patient care plans, pain management, employment issues and benefits, driving assessments, family and home life, plus a variety of other subjects.
